When she is not coaching young girls from underserved communities, Veronica is supporting programme officers or consulting on climate justice.

Her role as a manager for regional programmes at Wikimedia Foundation, the parent company of Wikipedia, entails working with programme officers at a community level.

She doubles up as an instructor at Akira Chix, a school in Nairobi catering to girls from underserved communities seeking to nurture their tech talent.

“At this school, I teach life skills and soft skills. In a male-dominated space these women need to have their voice heard so they must build confidence to advocate for their rights,” she says.

"She believes in dreaming big, being authentic, being ambitious, not burning bridges, and doing good to uplift people who have not been equally privileged in life."

Veronica also works as a consultant for Creative Action Institute with projects including Sauti Dada which was a Covid-19 response programme for girls in East Africa.

The other project is the East Africa Girls Leadership programme where women are encouraged to needle on different issues about where they come from.

“I do these because I care about women, girls, the environment, education and climate justice,” says the Strathmore University graduate.

Above all, she believes in dreaming big, being authentic, being ambitious, not burning bridges, and doing good to uplift people who have not been equally privileged in life.

Her career highlight includes developing codes and toolkits for gender-responsive practices of pedagogy for teachers in Africa.

“This is powerful to me because being part of the process means I am shaping or influencing how the classroom can look like for both boys and girls in Africa working with teachers and heads of departments in education,” she says.
