With more than 15 years of experience in commercial transactions and corporate legal advisory, Sylvia played a key role in one of Kenya’s most significant financial moves—advising on the early redemption of two Eurobond notes in 2024 and 2025.
At the time, she served as Partner – Corporate Commercial at G&A Advocates LLP, a role that marked a major highlight in her legal career.
She has since joined The Nature Conservancy as the Associate General Counsel for Africa.
The high-stakes transaction underscored her contribution to public good, especially amid intense pressure and speculation surrounding a potential national debt default.

At the time, Sylvia explains, there were a lot of concerns that Kenya was potentially going to default.
She emphasises the importance of versatility and wearing multiple hats.
“I have always taken work seriously,” she says firmly, probably as a way of celebrating the milestone of national appeal.
She has also actively engaged in charitable work, extending her impact beyond her career.
