Saveer Singh Vohra, 26

Director

Sarova Hotels & Resorts

Tragedy may have brought Saveer home to manage their family business, but from a young age, he had been groomed and taught to work in it.

So when he took over Sarova portfolio at the age of 23, he started piecing the success puzzles.

Saveer did a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Finance at the University of Warwick in the UK, then moved to Mauritius where he was part of BDO Mauritius’ corporate finance team.

In 2018, he moved back to run several companies within his family business stable ranging from hospitality, manufacturing, tours and travel, importation and distributorship, industrial warehousing, automotive engineering, and film studios.

"The hospitality industry is where I’m also able to take that forward. There are all the other business interests and investments but the hospitality industry is where our passion is."

He says that his biggest focus in Africa now is Sarova Hotels, which consists of nine hotels, resorts and game lodges.

“The hospitality industry is one of largest interests across the continent. After being thrust into the position of being at the helm of my family businesses, hospitality is an industry I couldn’t shy away from.”

He is a director, a member of the audit and risk committee, and actively involved in the group’s strategy, growth, and expansion. His family, he says, has always insisted on humility and care for people.

“The hospitality industry is where I’m also able to take that forward. There are all the other business interests and investments but the hospitality industry is where our passion is.”

“I wake up in the morning knowing that I’ll go out there today to strive to be the best. Not just for myself but my entire family. My family includes each individual that I have a relationship with, ones we work with, their families…”

To relax, he plays golf if he can get time or go boating.
