Francis Ngumbi, 36

CFO

Kisima Farm Limited

Francis Ngumbi has plied in beer making, soda production, car dealership, beauty market, and agriculture–all for a good reason.
He views the shifts as steps towards growth and leadership.

“The different roles have allowed me to understand the whole value chain and it is the same reason I am now in agriculture,” says the CFO.

Boasting a decade of experience, he has worked for Diageo as a Finance Planning and Reporting Analyst, doing three years there. Before that he worked as a Marketing Procurement Analyst for beverage giant Coca-Cola.

He worked for Beiersdorf in Ghana as its Regional Commercial Controller. In 2019, he came back home as the Head of Finance, Kenya, at Tata International Ltd. “Diageo allowed me to see the 360 degrees of the business. I was the ethics counsellor for Tata Kenya. I believe that any business without morals is dead.” Based in Timau, Meru County, the agribusiness firm is dealing in crops and floriculture as the primary focus.

"My focus is on strategic financial leadership that not only meets organisational goals but also fosters sustainable growth and long-term success."

“My focus is on strategic financial leadership that not only meets organisational goals but also fosters sustainable growth and long-term success,” he says, reiterating that he believes in autocratic leadership.

“My style is autocratic leadership; As a leader, the buck stops with you.” He explains: “I grew up in Kangundo; life was really difficult, something that pushed me to work hard to change my family’s life and that of the community.” “When not spending time with family, I am always reading. Malcolm Gladwell is my favourite writer”
